Closer to Yellow-Green For Me
Dear Kristy,
I laughed my head off reading about your attempt to be green. Alaska is for sure rubbing off on you. But that is a good thing. Blacksburg is not far behind where you live. There are plenty of green folks around here. They love to express themselves at our town’s farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The town just completed a very modern, yet earthy location for the Farmers Market. The amount they spent building was very ‘green’, if you get my drift. It is downtown Blacksburg where you can find an assortment of eating places, gift shops and music. But all I can think about when I go to the Farmers Market is why I didn’t bring my camera. The vegetation they have there every week is beautiful. The vegetables and fruit look almost fake they are so colorful. The vendors do a great job sprucing up there merchandise. And the Recycling Club have a booth there most of the time. So they would be proud of you and your napkins. Shoot! If you were here we could set up our own little booth selling your crunchy/’hippy’ish napkins. You’d make a killin’! (Ha! How many times have we tried something like that and failed?)
The Charm Course is a big hit! The girls are loving it. Like Jeff said in one of his comments, I don’t know how much they are applying what they are learning but they are having a blast. Last night was about diet and exercise. After our speaker discussed how our bodies are a holy temple and how important it is to take care of our bodies, we put ourselves in motion. The Huckleberry Trail (another great Blacksburg ‘green’ endeavor) is near the church office. So ten giggly girls with water bottles in hand went for a walk. Just maybe some of the things we are teaching them are sinking in.
Today, my Toyota Prius (see! I am a little green, yellow-green) is getting the front fender painted. They didn’t match it well a couple of weeks ago. I am glad it is getting rid of its Vitiligo. Being spotted is no fun! But that’s neither here nor there!
See ya!
Carolyn

Dear Carolyn… Will you please come back up here and teach charm school here? We Alaskan girls could use it! Especially me, I’ve been here 28 years. Send help soon. LOL Loving your blog, ladies.
“Steffan almost died tonight when he put my new coach purse on my dirty Alaskan car floor mat.”
… an actual FB post copied from someone in my newsfeed. Sorry to be such a chatterbox on here, but when I read it I cracked up and thought of your “charm school” and the fact that you could go into business up here.
That cracks me up, Sarah. Hilarious. I know about some dirty car mats. Coach, now what is that? Just kidding!
