Is light green ok?
Dear Carolyn,
I can just imagine charm school! I will pray for you, dear friend, cause the thought of trying to teach little girls to sit up straight and not pick their noses is sobering to me. I’m lucky if mine actually stay seated in their chairs for dinner and keep their whole body including elbows off the table. In fact, you’re probably getting started for today and I just finished breakfast. While Adelyn and her friends are becoming charming, Abby and 3 friends are attending day camp in nearby Palmer. This week, it’s “Down on the Farm” where they are spending mucho time in the great outdoors doing things with crunchy, earthy, greenie, hippyish leaders like turning soil, feeding animals and eating sack lunches on the grass. No need for silverware, much less proper placement of it. And I’m sure she’s absolutely charming while feeding the pigs there and using the Rent-a-can when nature calls.
You might not realize how green I’m becoming since we’ve not spent that much time together lately. I have decided to no longer buy paper napkins because I want to make cloth napkins and use them. So, over the past month or so, I’ve refused to buy napkins, but have yet to make them. Boy, have we gone through the select-a-size paper towels. Until last night, that is. I finally got out the sewing machine, even though you’re not here to help. Although I’ve thought about just using my pinking shears and just cutting out my squares for the napkins, you know, a no-sew version. I wonder if that would hold up well? I also want to make some of these reusable snack bags because I think they rock. I mean, how many plastic baggies can one go through in a school year? What a waste of money and ick in the landfills. Plus, they’re much more cute, and it’s all about being cute. I’m picturing names embroidered on the outer fabric, or big applique initials or something along those lines…
Anyway, I’m not a mega tree hugger or anything, don’t worry about me
(I still use shampoo and deoderant)! I just don’t think God designed this ol’ world to last forever so I kind of chuckle when people use the words “Save the World”, but that’s another story for another day. We know Who saves the world, Who made the world, and Who really keeps it spinning. I can turn a light shade of green, though, right, like yellow green or a tad darker?
My coffee pot is calling and sewing machine is waiting so I’d better get going. Oh, and I was thinking about all our old sewing projects and how me asking for your help usually meant you sewing while I watched, but that’s neither here nor there!
Using up my scraps,
Kristy
